Rs. 1,900.00

About 2 yrs back we rescued a boxer from Bangalore’s streets. We called her Mili (‘found’ in Hindi). In critical health, she was greatly loved and bitterly fought for but we lost and she died of multiple organ failure in a week. A week after that another boxer was found in equally bad shape. We called her FIR MILI (‘Mili found again’).

After a month of intensive care, she had pulled through. She still struggles with her health and has to be monitored closely. She has become the absolute alpha female that brooks no non-sense from any other dog. And an ace at fishing (there is fish in 2 of the 3 ponds). She can float for minutes without twitching a muscle with her head inches from the water and will snap and catch the fish. And she has the freedom to live the life she loves.

That’s the magic of the VOSD Sanctuary. Please help FIR MILI. Your contribution goes a long way in ensuring not only her future, but that funds are freed for the constant expansion we experience. Remember we have gone from 0 to 700 dogs in 4 yrs!

It costs an average of ₹1,900 for the upkeep of a dog including food, shelter, vaccination and regular medical care. If you choose QTY = 1 you are sponsoring 1 month for this dog. QTY = 2 indicates 2 months. There is a total of 12 months available to be sponsored. When all months are sponsored this page will not show on

All contributions get an 80G deduction. You are contributing towards one of more than 700 dogs in our permanent care. It costs in excess of Rs 15-16 lacs per month to maintain this infrastructure and the rescue and we raise not more than 10% of that through contributions at the moment. Your help in sponsoring this dog goes a long way in supporting VOSD and helping make India’s largest rescue even better.

Thanks for your consideration and contribution.

What is the VOSD Sanctuary?

The VOSD Sanctuary is a magical place. It is subject of many articles and photo stories, it’s the place that 750+ rescued dogs call home!

While the 750+ dogs that live with me been featured many times in CNBC, NDTV, The Hindu, Hindustan Times, Time of India etc. a month back we were covered by the BBC which went viral with in excess of 3 million views on the BBC, The Logical Indian,   IT Matters , CNNScoopWhoop publications.

This is no shelter. This is a place where each dog has a name. All dogs are free within their 30+ enclosures in a 3.5 acre area. Each enclosure has an enclosed ‘indoor’ as well as an open area, lined with trees. The enclosures have heaters during the winter, and individual water bodies for the dogs to jump into and cool off, in summer. There’s also a 1/4 acre artificial lake created for the dogs simply called ‘the swimming pool’. The whole Sanctuary is lit on UPS throughout the night, and work is on to increase the capacity to a thousand dogs. And we have all medical facilities and supplies in-house.

The Sanctuary is also off-limits to visitors, as it is also the home of VOSD Founder, Rakesh Shukla. However, due to numerous requests, VOSD is planning to organize a guided tour of the Sanctuary from time to time.
